I love tiramisu! It is also one of my family’s favorite desserts. There is nothing better than homemade tiramisu, super-simple recipe for the Italian classic.
Ingredients:
Cake Layers:
8 eggs
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
2 Tbsp. cornstarch
1 tsp. vanilla extract
Syrup:
2 Tbsp. sugar
1 1/2 cups strong brewed coffee
2 Tbsp. Heavy Cream
3 Tbsp. coffee liqueur
Filling:
2 (8 ounce) container mascarpone cheese
2 cups powder sugar
1 Tbsp. vanilla extract
3 cups heavy cream
Topping:
2 cups grated semisweet chocolate
2-3 Tbsp. cocoa powder for dusting
Direction:
Cake layers:
Preheat oven to 350F (175 degrees C). Grease 3 (9 inch) pans.
In a mixer whip eggs and 1 1/2 cups sugar until thick and pale in color.
In separate bowl combine flour and cornstarch; sift into the separate bowl.
Gently using rubber spatula fold in flour mixture. Divide batter between 3 pans.
Bake in the preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes. Let cool completely.
Filling:
Combine mascarpone, powder sugar and vanilla in a large bowl. With electric mixer whisk together until completely smooth, scraping the bottom of the bowl to remove any lumps. Slowly whisk in the heavy cream. Whip until soft peaks form.
Syrup:
Stir together sugar, heavy cream, coffee and coffee liqueur until sugar is dissolved. Set aside.
Assembling the cake:
Place one cake layer on a serving plate. Spray with coffee mixture over cake until it’s well soaked, and then spread 1/6 of the filling mixture (about 1.5 cups), sprinkle with 3 table spoons of grated chocolate; top with another layer; spray with coffee mixture over cake until it’s soaked, then spread 1/6 of the filling mixture; sprinkle with 3 table spoons of grated chocolate and top with the last cake layer; spray with coffee mixture over cake until it’s soaked.
Lightly spread sides of cake with filling. (for the top, I used cake decorating bag with round tip and piped little circles onto the cake)
Place cocoa in a sieve and lightly dust top of cake.
Decorate the side of the cake with extra shaved chocolate… Be creative!!!
Refrigerate for a few hours or overnight.
Mmmmmm, one of my favorite cakes!! Love it!
Thanks Natasha,
It’s one of my favorites as well. Moist and delicious 🙂
Hi Inessa,
Tiramisu is one of my favorites. I prefer desserts that are not too sweet. I make it with a sponge cake as well and its one of the fastest cakes I make.
Hi Inna, I love, love this cake….sponge cake sounds good too 🙂
Thank you.
I find tiramisu a very delicious dessert because it has coffee in it. Your tiramisu is moist and really looks yummy.
Hi Louise, I agree it’s moist and full of flavors 🙂
Such a lovely creation Inessa. The tutorial is very helpful. A very tempting dessert indeed! Pinned it!
Thank you 🙂
Nice! I will try this except i usually add cream cheese instead of mascarpone. Where do you get mascarpone cheese?
Thanks Elen :), I get my mascarpone from Trader Joe’s but most of the fine Grocery Stores has it.
Cream cheese will work too but mascarpone makes this cake more silky and special.
can I use rum instead of coffee liquor?
Hi Alana, yes rum will do 🙂

In the present day universe that is very hard to deliver.

Hi! Could I just bake the cake in one pan and then slice into 3 layers after it’s done baking?
Yes you can. I recommend to have a nice deep pan.
Hello, I’m very excited to try out this new Tiramisu recipe, I only have one question about it. What kind of Heavy cream do you use? It doesn’t matter the brand but I know at different grocery stores it has different descriptions and flavours/fat free, and so on…

Thank you Tina. I am glad you enjoyed it .
I have been browsing online more than 3 hours nowadays, yet I by no means found any attention-grabbing article like yours.
It is pretty price sufficient for me. In my opinion, if all webmasters and bloggers made excellent content material
as you did, the net will be a lot more useful than ever before.
